This year’s annual benefit song for SAFPAW.org features a Tim Easton original (“Gallatin Pike Blues”), updated from the 2013 version. The new track was recorded at Hen House Studios in East Nashville on Saturday, October 26, 2026, featuring Easton plus Nashville musicians Steve Dawson, Jen Gunderman, Jay Weaver, and Justin Amaral, in conjunction with the Hen House Recording Workshop organized every year by Canadian-born, East Nashville-based musician Steve Dawson.
This is the twelfth consecutive year that Easton has released a song and video to raise awareness for The Southern Alliance For People & Animal Welfare, which was started by Nashville resident Laure Green.
“I chose to record this song because the Gallatin Pike is integral to the life and work of SAFPAW.org founder Laurie Green, who is on this pike every day, helping our community’s underprivileged members and their pets. She does the kind of work that many of us are unable or unwilling to do. We local musicians wish to shine a spotlight on this,” Easton said.
The Southern Alliance For People & Animal Welfare (SAFPAW.org) is a non-profit organization serving Davidson County, Tennessee, by improving the quality of life for people and pets in need. Their Homeless Outreach Program provides food, temporary shelter, and other basic needs to those in need. SAFPAW also assists those looking to secure more permanent housing by helping with transportation, acquiring necessary IDs (such as social security card, state ID or driver's license, birth certificate, etc.), and guiding them through the application process—and everything in-between.
The video made during the recording session of “Gallatin Pike Blues” was filmed partly by cinematographer and workshop participant Allen Easton, and partly by songwriter Tim Easton. The track is downloadable on Bandcamp, where 100% of the proceeds go to SAFPAW.org
